What We Believe

What We Believe
God is the creator (Genesis 1:1) and sustainer of all life upon the earth.  This Father loved man so much (John 3:16) He sacrificed His Son, Jesus (Romans 5:8)  so  we might have life.  He loved us so much He sent the Holy Spirit to guide the writers in giving us the Word of God (John 14:15,16) which is Christ incarnate (John 1:1).  This Word, the Bible, provides all we need (2 Peter 1:3; 2 Timothy 3:16,17).

Christ was sent from the God Head Three to seek and save (Luke 19:10) through His church of which He, Christ is the head (Col. 1:18).  His word instructs us to be obedient (Hebrews 5:8,9) even as He obeyed His Father in heaven.  We are saved by Grace through Faith--God's Grace our Faith shown in our salvation by:

Hearing the blessed word of God (Romans 10:17) developing that all important faith (Hebrews 11:6) which will lead the honest believer to repent of one's sins (Luke 13:3,5), declare Jesus (Acts 22:16) and be immersed to contact the blood of Christ (Romans 6:3-5) raised by the power of God to that new life as children of God (James 1:25; Galatians 3:26,27).

Our Worship
If you are passing through or new to the area and seeking a church home, you may have questions concerning our worship services.  The descriptions below should give you an idea of what to expect when you visit.

Teaching  On Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights we have bible-based classes for all ages.  Our teachers are knowledgeable in the Lord's word and are trained to teach at the appropriate level for each age group.

Singing  We sing hymns of praise, thanksgiving, admonishment and teaching as directed in the word (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).  Our singing is without instruments of music.

Prayers  of praise, thanksgiving, confession and healing are offered throughout the service in accordance with scripture and examples given to us in the Bible (Ephesians 5:20; Ephesians 6:18; Romans 12:12; 2 Corinthians 1:11).

Lord's Supper  Each Sunday the Lord's Supper is observed in remembrance of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ by those who have put on Christ through obedience to His Word (Matthew 26:24-30; Acts 20:7).  After giving thanks for the bread (which represents Christ's body), men in the congregation will pass out the bread to the congregation to partake.  After everyone has partaken of the bread, one of the men will give thanks for the fruit of the vine (the cup which represents Christ's blood) and it will be passed to each Christian to partake.  This is all done in accordance with scripture (1 Corinthians 11:23-29).

Giving  The members of the congregation give monetarily to the Lord's work as each has prospered each Sunday (1 Corinthians 16:1,2).  As a guest you are not expected to make a contribution, but you are welcome to do so.

Preaching  On Sunday mornings and Sunday nights the minister will preach (sermon) from the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 4:2; Romans 10:14,15).  The sermon will usually last about 30 minutes.  On Wednesday nights after bible study, one of the men in the congregation will lead a short bible-based devotional before we are dismissed.

Invitation  At the conclusion of each sermon and devotional an invitation is extended to any that have a desire to repent, confess Jesus and be baptized and also to any that are in need of prayers for strength, comfort or healing.
